The first batch of UK reviews for the Nissan Ariya are now in and it's all sounding very, very positive.

I've rounded them up below;

Auto Express:
The Nissan Ariya is a shining example of an EV done right. Predictable and usable range, plenty of kit on even the entry-level model, quality, space and style combine to make this a desirable car that’s backed up by solid performance and superb refinement. It also acquits itself well dynamically. After its initial EV exploits with the Leaf, Nissan was left in the doldrums when it came to electrification, but the firm has really joined the race against both mainstream and premium competitors with the Ariya.

Auto Car:
This is a pleasingly tuned and intuitive drivetrain that, together with the competitive 250- mile range and quick (but not rapid) 130kW charging capacity, encourages a relaxed driving style and throws the Ariya straight into contention for the coveted crossover crown.

Car Magazine:
It’s hard not to come away impressed from a first drive in the Ariya. It turbocharges Nissan’s EV proposition, vaulting the worthy but dull Leaf by several generations, and looks set for a battle royal at the top-end of the class. It looks concept car-fantastic inside and out, with some lovely attention to detail in places, even if one or two of those design touches don’t exactly translate into easy control for the driver.

As for its performance, it’s respectable enough to leave us wanting more. Ride and handling are on the pace of rivals, and overall refinement is where it needs to be. In terms of where exactly it slots into the EV pecking order, we’ll leave that decision for the upcoming Giant Test, but based on our brief drives so far, and its overall desirability, it may well leave Hyundai-Kia and the Volkswagen Group with more than a little to think about.

Parkers:
After an EV that will also fit the family? The Ariya could be just the ticket. The interior is a huge step up from other Nissan cars, the tech is spot on and on paper at least, the charging and range specs look good enough.

Prices and trim levels for the UK are now confirmed, with a starting price of £43,845. The Ariya is a relatively early participant in the electric SUV market, but expect that to rapidly change as the opposition piles in on what is rapidly becoming an EV goldrush.
